Taylor Richard
Attorney
Taylor grew up out west in the mountains of Jackson, Wyoming where he learned to enjoy the thrills of skiing, snowmobiling, and fly-fishing. He also played baseball and football throughout high school. After graduating from Jackson Hole High School in 2007, he attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. He eventually left the west and headed to the beaches of South Carolina where he finished his undergraduate studies at Coastal Carolina University with a degree in business marketing in 2015.
Intrigued by stories of wonderful people, traditions, and beautiful countryside of Kentucky, Taylor decided to attend law school at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. While at Brandeis, he realized the law was his passion and he had chosen the right career. He excelled, becoming a member of the University of Louisville Law Review and the Securities Law Moot Court Team. He also won the 2017 Kentucky Bar Association Student Writing Competition for his entry “From Warrior to Guardian: Reducing Excessive Police Use of Force.” He also participated in the “Street Law” program at Central High School, where law students teach high school students about how the law is applicable to every day, practical scenarios.
Taylor joined the Poppe Law Firm® as a clerk in 2016 where he worked throughout law school. This tenure at the Firm helped him realize he wanted to spend his career in a courtroom, litigating cases and utilizing the legal system to help others in need. Taylor was named to the Dean’s List every semester of law school, and in 2018 he graduated Magna Cum Laude and in the top 10 of his class.
After passing the Bar Exam, Taylor became an attorney at the Louisville Metro Public Defender’s Office. There, he spent every day in a courtroom, representing the rights of indigent criminal defendants and developing his craft. In the Summer of 2019, he was asked to join the Poppe Law Firm® as an Associate Attorney.
Taylor is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Kentucky Justice Association, and is licensed to practice in all Courts of Kentucky, as well as the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky in Federal Court. In 2020 Taylor was elected to serve on the Kentucky Justice Association’s Board of Governors.
Taylor was selected as a 2024-2025 Super Lawyers® Rising Star in Civil Litigation.
