Katherine Tapp

Katherine is a seasoned trial attorney at Poppe Law Firm, where she advocates for individuals and families in high-stakes civil litigation. Raised in Somerset, Kentucky, she has practiced in both Indiana and Kentucky at both state and federal levels since 2018, and brings a wealth of experience in constitutional law, municipal liability, civil rights, and appellate advocacy. She is widely admitted to practice, including in Kentucky, Indiana, numerous U.S. District Courts, the Sixth and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Before joining Poppe Law Firm, Katherine spent years litigating complex civil cases at top regional and national firms, where she handled cases from initial filings through appeals. Her practice included both defending municipalities and law enforcement officers in civil rights litigation and representing plaintiffs in constitutional claims. Now fully focused on representing those who have been wronged, she draws on her deep understanding of defense tactics to build stronger cases for her clients. Known for her thoughtful case strategy, meticulous preparation, and relentless commitment to justice, Katherine has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional results.
Beyond the courtroom, Katherine lives on a small farm in southern Indiana with her husband, Joe, where they share their home with two English Mastiffs, Mable and Lily, a red-tailed hawk, and a flock of chickens. A devoted family person, she is incredibly proud of her sisters, Adrian and Morgan, both local community leaders who are dedicated to making a difference. Her father, Judge David Tapp, has also been a guiding influence in her life, instilling in her a deep respect for justice and public service.
